Frank, I had taken photos with the whole bird, but I liked this one because it was a little more unusual ...he came up so close, I think he wanted to headbutt my camera!
Magyar, the bird in the background moved quietly into position, just as I asked him to... Polona has given me excellent instructions on how to get birds to pose ;)

A first glance, cutting half the bird's head off seems odd. However, on looking again the composition works really well. Beautiful colours too...
