okay folks, we're going for some very Australian haiku today...

the Vienna deli

cling wrapped lamingtons

languish on counter

Lamington: Home made cake; Australian icon (Wiki link).

And a thanks to the boys at the Vienna Deli. Their patrons, surrounds, even their much neglected hoya plants have been the inspiration for a surprising number of the haiku on this blog. No aspersions on their baked goods and I love their coffee.

  3. ah, don't be... and something as delicious as lamingtons deserves a better fate :)
this haiku does feel different but equally good (if not yummy)

Made me crave something sweet, too. (And makes me want to visit Australia.)

I think the poem falls just short of a Haiku, but it's original - more so than mine. I like the quirkiness of your subject matter - inspires me.
